From
early 2006 through Spring 2016, I was privileged to serve as an FAA Designated
Airworthiness Representative (DAR) during the type certification and early production
of the HondaJet, performing conformity inspections at Honda suppliers all over
the U.S., in Japan, in Europe, and at the HondaJet production facility in Greensboro,
NC. The aircraft features state-of-the-art design including laminar flow aerodyanics,
a graphite/epoxy composite fuselage structure, Honda's unique Over-The-Wing (OTW)
engine mounting, a new Honda/General Electric engine, and the latest glass-panel
avionics to achieve remarkable performance and comfort.
The
company was granted the type certificate for the airplane in December 2015 and
the production certificate in July 2016. |
